Start Time: 19th September 2008
Motivation
My motivation for endurance racing is fuelled by my stubbornness and a belief that with hard work, focus and a willingness to suffer, I can achieve my goals. At the start of 2007 I firmly set my sights on attempting the Arch to Arc Challenge and with the help of Enduroman and the sponsorship and support of Artemis, I am now able to realise my dream.
During the 12 months prior to the Challenge, I’ll be completing a series of other challenges as part of my intensive training programme, which in itself will sum to around 800 hours. Despite being involved in endurance type events almost all my life, the Artemis Arch to Arc presents a challenge like no other I’ve faced before. In fact, in many ways the training required to make it to the start line in September 2008 is as daunting as the event itself. In completing the training programme and attempting the challenge I expect to find out many things about myself and how much I can achieve through determination and a willingness to make sacrifices to achieve my goals. It is this “inner challenge” that motivates me to keep going and to see how far I can push my body and mind.
I am hoping that potential sponsors, both personal and corporate, will acknowledge the significant sacrifices and hard work that I am putting in over the key 12 months leading up to the event, and that they will get behind me and pledge support for Tusk. Only with this support will I be able to achieve my fundraising goal of £35,000.
